چکیده

INTRODUCTION Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT), also known as Rendu-Osler-Weber syndrome, is an autosomal dominant disease with a prevalence of 1:5000, that leads to multiregional angiodysplasia. Mucocutaneous telangiectasias and visceral arteriovenous malformations are common features of this disease. The presence of telangiectasias in nasal mucosa leads to recurrent epistaxis that affects up to 96% of patients. On the basis of the endoscopic appearance of the nasal telangiectasias, different morphologic classifications have been proposed. Narrow-band imaging (NBI) is an optical imaging technology recently applied in ear, nose, and throat endoscopy to enhance the detail of certain aspects of the surface of the mucosa such as blood vessels.

Neurovascular manifestations in hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia: imaging features and genotype-phenotype correlations.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia is an autosomal dominant disease that presents in 10%-20% of patients with various brain vascular malformations. We aimed to report the radiologic features (phenotype) and the genotype-phenotype correlations of brain vascular malformations in hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia. MATERIALS AND METHODS Demographic, clinical, genotyp...

Hereditary benign Telangiectasia: Report of 6 cases in a family

Hereditary benign telangiectasia is an uncommon idiopathic skin disorder characterized by generalized telangiectases and angiomatous lesions of the skin. The diagnosis should be suspected in patients with such cutaneous lesions, positive family history, no associated bleeding problems, and no mucosal involvement. We present six cases of hereditary benign telangiectasia in three generations of o...

Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia With Liver Vascular Malformation Presenting With High-Output Heart Failure

Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) is an autosomal dominant genetic disease manifested by formation of telangiectasias and visceral vascular malformations of organ systems, including the skin, lungs, gastrointestinal tract, brain, and liver. Hepatic involvement may lead to portal hypertension, high-output cardiac failure, and biliary strictures.1 Diagnosis requires patients to have 3 o...

Contact endoscopic findings in hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia.

BACKGROUND Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia is characterized by angiodysplastic lesions. So far, knowledge is limited on the vascular architecture and rate of occult manifestation of telangiectases. Contact endoscopy has not been used for this task before. METHODS Eleven patients with hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia were examined with contact endoscopy to identify occult telangiect...

Splenic Involvement in Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia

A 33-year-old man who presented with prolonged epigastric pain was referred to our hospital. He had experienced recurrent epistaxis and had a family history of hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging revealed splenomegaly and a 9 cm hypervascular mass in his spleen. Computed tomography also showed a pulmonary arteriovenous malformation and heter...
